Having learned the craft as a teenager, Lutz has kept street and documentary photography the “soloist’s counterpart” to his more team oriented career as a professional filmmaker.

Throughout the decades he has acquired vast technical and aesthetic experience in both film and digital formats, using a wide range of equipment, from classical rangefinders and DSLRs to panoramic cameras and medium format. He is the designer of various photographic accessories and does his own fine art printing, both wet and digital.

With a lifeline linked to numerous countries, he enjoys discovering the unforeseen, capturing fleeting moments of contrast and beauty.

Lutz has been honing his skills by attending workshops and masterclasses by Klavdij Sluban, Christine Doury, Philippe Bachelier, Eric Bouvet and Raghu Rai.
